Less Than & Greater Than

We are learning all about Place Value in Math.  Students were introduced to the symbols: < & >.  They created characters with the symbols that always "eat" the side that has more!

Winter Garden

We took advantage of the warmest day of the week and got outside to prepare our Winter Gardens.

Morning Meeting Across the Hall

Mrs. Russell's class invited our class & Mrs. Moran's class to their Morning Meeting.  That's a lot of first graders in one room, but everyone did a great job!  We even learned a new song- Black Socks.  It was a lot of fun!

Shipwreck!

In Wellness, students played a team building game.   "Shipwreck!" is where students have to work with their team or "crew" to get everyone off their sinking ship safely, while only using their rope and raft (scooter). Coach Braund shared pictures and said they did a great job!

Top Secret Project

Mystery Reader

On Friday, Tom's mother surprised us as a Mystery Reader!

Mock Caldecott

Last week, we read 10 of the suspected Caldecott Nominees.

Then we held our own vote of which book that we thought should win the medal.

Our First Choice: The Night World
Second Choice: Finding Winnie
Third Choice: Waiting

We must have a good eye for great illustrations because the Caldecott Winner was...
Finding Winnie!

Waiting was an Honor Book this year.  All three are wonderful books and it was very exciting to discover the winners.  Happy Reading!
