History To-Go Presentation

Wow! What an amazing hands-on way to learn about Long Ago.

Everyday household items look familiar.

We noticed that children's toys have really changed.

I think students are happy that they can just get butter at the store now.

Students got to use a wax stamp to seal an envelope.

They also got to sign their name with a feather!

Mystery Reader

The day before Thanksgiving Break, we had another Mystery Reader! One of our head room parents, Mrs. Pietro came in to surprise Lucas for his birthday.

If you are interested in being a Mystery a Reader, please email me to schedule.

Weaving

In Social Studies, we have been comparing and contrasting present time to long ago.  We went to the Ealy House and are reading many books about how life was.  Students used yarn to try out an old craft that would make blankets and clothes long ago.

If You Give A Turkey a Tater Tot

If you give a turkey a tater tot...
He'll ask for some ketchup to go with it.

Then he will also want mustard.
Seeing the yellow makes him think of the sun.
He'll want to go to the beach.

He will ask you to pack his bathing suit.
Looking for his suit, he will find swimming shoes.
Once he's packed, he will hop into the car.
But the car will break down.
He gets out of the car and sees the sidewalk.

Now he wants to go for a sprint.
After his run, he will need ice cream to cool down.
Having ice cream, will make him want chocolate chips.
Chocolate chips will make the turkey think of dirt.

Now he wants to get dirty, he will go to the park.
At the park, he will go to the pool.
The pool is closed, but will remind him he needs a bath.
He needs a clean towel.

So he goes to the bedroom.
In his room, he sees his bed.
He decides to jump on his bed.

He slips and gets a scratch.
The red makes him think of ketchup.

And chances are... if you give a turkey ketchup,
He will want a tater tot to go with it.

Veterans Day

We wrote letters to Veterans to show them our appreciation for their service to our country.
The "We Salute You" Board is amazing!  We love to slow down to look at all the brave men and women who have served in the different armed forces for our country.

Ealy House

What a gorgeous day for a walking Field Trip to the Ealy House!  This kicks off our "Long Ago" theme in Social Studies.  Thank you to our parents that could help out!  It was very interesting to think about how different life was like over 150 years ago in New Albany.
